SEEG membership includes sole practitioners such as
CPAs and independent lecturers, temporary and full-time
contractors, such as software developers and information
technology professionals, consultants, franchise owners
and buyers, independent sales professionals, and even
home and computer repair handymen.

The SEEG group is
not for general job-seeking purposes.

There are plenty of great networking groups in the DFW
metroplex that serve this need.

Meeting "Rules of Engagement"
Networking for job leads is not in keeping with the mission of our group, and can be best addressed
through other groups.  Traditional Job-seekers are encouraged to network in other Career
Management Groups sponsored by CareerConnection, or through other DFW organizations.

We develop dialogue and programs for ACTIVE MEMBERS that meet our mission. Questions not
pertaining to the evening agenda are for outside of the 6 to 7 pm  meeting time.

To do this in a one hour evening meeting, we must adhere to the schedule beklow:
We stick to the agenda to keep it fun & productive for the benefit of our ACTIVE MEMBERS.
About Finding and Following your own
Passion
Everyone should have a passion in life, and if it isn't being
satisfied by working for someone else, then you should
consider making your passion your career.  With the ups
and downs of the turbulent job market, especially among
the forty plus crowd, working for someone else gets more
difficult and often less personally satisfying with each
birthday.   The risks of  self-employment must be weighed
against the cost and anxiety of "employment gaps" of being
an "at will" employee.

If you are interested in turning your passion into your
career, then you share our common interest.

SEEG Meeting "networking"
We encourage visitors to read about our group, and to come early to meetings with business cards that
indicate the nature of their business or services offered, and your current contact information.
A maximum of
ten minutes are allotted at the beginning of each meeting to business card exchange and
"Meet and Greet" networking, as well as
after each meeting is adjourned.

The nature of networking for self-employed and entrepreneurs is different than that of job networking, but
some basics are the same.  Come prepared to first,
to listen, next, to tell what you can do to help that
person
, and ONLY THEN tell them what your service or business can do for them.

About Becoming and Staying Your Own Boss
Self-employment is not anything to take lightly, nor something to try for awhile until you get hired by
a company.  It is a commitment to take responsibility and accountability for your own livelihood.

There are many easier and less risky ways of making a living.  For the individual who has been
working for someone else, this path takes an entirely new and entirely different set of skills, and
different rewards and pitfalls.

Statistics show it generally takes at least a year of time and at least a year of income to become
self-sufficient as an entrepreneur or self-employed individual.  The best time to start this search is
while you are fully employed, and not when you have been out of work and exhausted unemployment
and personal savings.
